How to set up TG-789 Broadband Gateway for nbn FTTP

Please follow the steps below to set up your TG-789 Broadband Gateway.

  1. Ensure your nbn Connection Box is turned on.
  2. Plug an Ethernet cable from the UNI-D 1 port on your nbn Connection Box into the red WAN port on your TG-789. If UNI-D 1 doesn't work, try each UNI-D port.

  3. Plug in the power cable and turn your TG-789 on using the Power button.

  4. Connect a device to your TG-789 via WiFi or Ethernet cable and go to http://10.1.1.1 in your browser.
  5. Log in with your TG-789 username and password. By default, these are printed on the barcode sticker at the bottom of your TG-789.
  6. On the home screen, click Setup Wizard in the top right hand corner.
  7. Select iiNet as the Internet Service Provider.
  8. Select Ethernet as the WAN Interface.
  9. Select PPP over Ethernet as WAN Type.
  10. Change VLAN Enabled to On.
  11. Set VLAN ID to 2.
  12. Enter your iiNet username and password.
  13. Select Next and continue with the Wizard in setting up your WiFi.
  14. Select Finish at the end of the Wizard.

Appendix - Legacy settings

If you are an existing iiNet customer and the above settings don't work for you, please try these legacy settings:

Internet Service Provider: iiNet
WAN Interface: Ethernet
WAN Type: Dynamic IP Address
VLAN Enabled: Off
