How to set up FRITZ! Box 7490 for NBN FTTP or Fixed Wireless

Please follow the steps below to set up your FRITZ! Box 7490.

  1. Ensure your NBN Connection Box is turned on.
  2. Plug an Ethernet cable from the UNI-D1 port on your NBN Connection Box into the LAN 1 port on your FRITZ! Box.
    Note: if UNI-D1 doesn't work, try each UNI-D port.

  3. Using the supplied power cable, connect the FRITZ! Box's Power port to an electrical outlet and turn it on.

  4. Connect a device to your FRITZ! Box via WiFi or Ethernet cable and go to http://192.168.178.1 in your browser.
  5. Log in with your FRITZ! Box password. By default the password can be either admin or admin123.
  6. On the home screen, click Internet.
  7. Click Account Information.
  8. Select Other Internet service provider from the Internet service provider drop down.
  9. Enter iiNet.
  10. Tick the box next to External modem or router.
  11. Tick the box next to Establish own connection to the Internet.
  12. Tick the box next to Yes for Account Information.
  13. Enter your iiNet Username and Password.
  14. Enter the Downstream and Upstream speeds of your NBN plan as per reference in the following table:

  15. Click Change connection settings.
  16. Tick the checkbox next to Maintain permanently (recommended for flat rates)
  17. Tick the checkbox next to Use VLAN for internet access.
  18. Enter 2 in the text box next to VLAN-ID.
  19. Click Apply.
