Email Setup in Windows 7 Mail
This article will show you to manually set up a mailbox for your iiNet email address in Windows Live Mail for Windows 7.
- If you have another email account, send a test email to the email address you're setting up. Alternatively, ask a friend or family member to send you an email.
- Open Windows Live Mail and select Tools > Accounts. If you don't see the menu bar shown below, hit the ALT key on your keyboard to make it visible.
- Select Add.
- Select Email Account, and then click Next.
- Enter the following details:
E-mail address: Your iiNet email address
Password: Your iiNet email address password
Display Name: Your name as you’d like it to appear on emails you send
- Ensure that Manually configure server settings for e-mail account is ticked, and then hit Next.
- Enter the following details. If your email address doesn't end in "@iinet.net.au", please see iiNet Group Email Settings.
My incoming server is a: IMAP
Incoming server: mail.iinet.net.au
Incoming port: 143
Server requires a secure connection (SSL): Ticked
Log on using: Clear text authentication
Log in ID: Your iiNet email address without the “@iinet.net.au”
Outgoing server: mail.iinet.net.au
Outgoing port: 587
Server requires a secure connection (SSL): Ticked
Outgoing server requires authentication: Ticked
- Click Next, and then click Finish.
- Once you’ve completed your email setup, click on Sync in the menu ribbon and then select All email accounts. Alternatively, you can just press the F5 key on your keyboard. This should download any available mail on the server to your Windows Live mailbox.
- If your test email arrives in your inbox, you know your email account is up and running!
